Developing a hydrogen catalyst
Hydrogen is a pollution-free fuel and has the advantage of generating water after combustion, not pollutants, and high combustion heat. Recently, hydrogen energy is attracting more and more attention worldwide to realize a carbon-neutral society. However, hydrogen is very difficult to store and transport and there is a risk of explosion. In order to prepare for the future hydrogen society, CERACOMB continues research to extract hydrogen by storing hydrogen in liquid compounds and NH3 as well as room temperature hydrogen removal catalysts that can prevent hydrogen explosions.
We are studying catalysts and reactors that store hydrogen in liquid compounds such as toluene, transport liquid organic storage, and then produce hydrogen through dehydrogenation using catalysts.
Recently, ammonia has been attracting attention as an excellent substance that stores/carries hydrogen. CERACOMB is actively preparing for the future hydrogen society through catalyst and reactor research that can produce hydrogen by decomposing ammonia at low temperatures.
